On 13 July 2018, Energy Studies Institute staff met with the Founder of Blockchain for Climate, Mr Joseph Pallant to discuss how blockchain technology can be used to help solve complex climate challenges and assist countries in implementing the Paris Agreement.
The meeting discussed how Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes (ITMOs) under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement could utilize blockchain technology following the Paris Agreement Work Programme’s conclusion by COP24 in Katowice, Poland in December this year. This visit was arranged by the High Commission of Canada.
